Coming off a game at UCF on Saturday, no one would’ve blamed SMU for starting the game against Hofstra rusty. However, the Mustangs wasted no time in making sure that didn’t happen.
In the make-up game from December 6th, the Mustangs jumped ahead early, and never looked back. Establishing themselves on offense and defense SMU cruised to a 73-49 victory over Hofstra on Sunday at Moody Coliseum.
The Mustangs had six players score at least eight points, and they had four players score in double-digits.
Cannen Cunningham and Ben Moore provided a nice spark off the bench. Cunningham finished the night with 14 points, three boards, and three blocks, while Moore added 10 points and five rebounds of his own.
Defensively, SMU continued to dominate its opponents- holding Hofstra to 22.2 percent total shooting.
Hofstra’s Zeke Upshaw committed five of Hofstra’s 18 turnovers and was held to just 10 points.
The Mustangs finds themselves in the middle of a three-game win streak and owns an overall record of 14-4. SMU will host Rutgers on Tuesday in Moody Coliseum at 7 p.m.
