Golfers lead TV tour

Swapping fairways and greens for television screens, men’sgolfer Scott Abbott and women’s golfer Laura Cross led TheGolf Channel on a tour of the campus recently.

Abbott, a native of Highland Park, is in his junior year andmajoring in finance-real estate. Abbott recently helped the SMUmen’s golf team win the Nokia Tulane Invitational in NewOrleans. He finished tied for sixth in the tournament.

Cross, a native of Midlothian, is in her freshman year andmajoring in marketing. Cross won first place in the MiccosukeeChampionship in Miami on Tuesday. Her performance aided thewomen’s golf team in capturing the championship aftertrailing by 14 strokes.

The golfers escorted The Golf Channel’s show”College Central” to campus hotspots including FordStadium, the Boulevard, Cox Business School and Dedman Hall.

“College Central” debuted last year and is a30-minute show dedicated to collegiate golf. The show includestours of college campuses and interviews with student-athletes.

The program airs every Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. The tour ledby SMU’s golfers will air this Wednesday night.
