For college students, maintaining that perfect balance between having a social life, work life and an active life can be challenging, but Claire Segal from Austin, Texas shares her secret to finding that perfect balance.
Segal started her own blog, The Slender Student, after packing on 10 pounds during a semester abroad in Spain. According to her blog, Segal wanted to “impart [her] ideas about how to balance food and fitness in a realistic and attainable way in order to achieve health.”
Segal’s website features numerous recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and sides that are both tasty and easy to make. Examples of recipes include a slender breakfast pizza, baked parmesan edamame, and turkey meatball fettuccine alfredo. All of her recipes include a picture of the dish, complete step-by-step instructions, as well as the number of calories, fat, carbohydrates, fiber and protein per serving.
In addition to her recipes, Segal also highlights effective workout routines for targeting the core, upper body and lower body.
“After school one day, my friend and I just toughed it out through a bunch of them and now I plan to do them at least once a day and memorize them so it takes no thought at all,” said Catherine, a follower of Segal’s blog.
Since Segal has graduated college, she has also graduated from her blog, The Slender Student. She has since transitioned to a new blog called The Petite Professional, which features similar recipes and workouts, but focuses on balancing a healthy work life instead of college life.
