SMU landed a high-profile transfer on Wednesday night.
Former LSU wide receiver Trey Quinn will transfer to SMU, he announced on his twitter account. The news was first reported by Ryan Bartow of 247Sports.com.
Quinn totaled 22 catches for 276 yards in two seasons at LSU, starting nine games. He will have to sit out the 2016 season, per NCAA transfer rules. The Lake Charles, La. native will have two seasons of eligibility left starting in 2017. He visited SMU for a spring practice in April.
A former four-star recruit, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Quinn was the No. 78 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver in the 2014 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings. At Barbe High School in Lake Charles, he set Louisiana state records for most career catches (357) and yards (6,566).
