Heading into the final tournament before the Conference USA tournament the men’s golf team is coming off a strong showing at the Pinehurst Classic and has one of the top collegiate golfers in the nation.
The Mustangs tied for fifth out of 18 teams at the Pinehurst Classic in Pinehurst, N.C. and senior Colt Knost is one of 10 semi-finalists for the Ben Hogan Award that recognizes the best male collegiate golfer.
The award chooses between Division I, II, and III, NAIA and junior college golfers. The award also uses not only collegiate events, but any amateur competition held within the last 12 months.
The list will be cut to three finalists on May 5 with the award being presented on May 21 at the Colonial Country Club.
As for the final tournament of the season, the Mustangs will compete in the Robert Kepler Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
Ohio State University is hosting the 37th annual Robert Kepler Invitational on their home, Scarlet Course.
The Mustangs will tee off against 16 teams including Big 10 representatives and fellow C-USA Marshall. The field will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Teams will step to the tees at 8:30 a.m.
