Luxury beauty retailer Cos Bar hosted a grand opening event to celebrate its new Dallas location in the Plaza at Preston Center Feb. 8. The store opened their doors for the first time to customers, makeup artists, and skincare professionals to celebrate the evening with champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Upon entrance, the beautiful mirrored walls and products lining the room made one feel as though they had stepped into a mini department store. Cos Bar offers the world’s best beauty products from the comfort of their lovely space without the hassle of making a trip to the mall. The company carries illustrious brands such as Tom Ford, Natura Bisse, Bobbi Brown, Revitalash, La Prairie, Charins, Clarisonic, and plenty more.
“Buying cosmetics should be a fun experience,” Cos Bar founder Lily Garfield said. “It should be an enjoyable activity at a place where everyone knows your name – not stressful.”
Garfield started the brand in 1976 with its first location in Aspen when she realized the area needed a store that offered better skincare and makeup products. A longtime Aspen resident, she set out to create a boutique that matched the small town’s charming aesthetic and presented a hand-picked array of the world’s finest cosmetic commodities.
Today, Cos Bar has 20 locations from Maui to Manhattan, with its newest in Dallas. Cos Bar’s motto, “beauty elevated,” encapsulates the above and beyond standards the company strives for and achieves so well. A beauty guru herself, Garfield knows how to spot the highest quality, most luxurious products so her customers can be certain they are walking out with the best of the best.
The company’s PR manager Andi Henke, a New York native, was excited to visit Dallas for the first time for the store’s launch.
“We’re so excited to be in Dallas because we’re figuring out that there are so many amazing publications and brands here for partnerships,” Henke said. “There’s a lot of amazing influencers here and [Dallas] has an intimate feeling but it’s also a big city.”
Attendees had the pleasure of getting facials, makeovers, and beauty advice while sipping champagne and mingling. The wall of Tom Ford lipsticks was rarely unoccupied by someone curious to find their new signature shade. Free samples of products and gift cards were given out generously and representatives from each brand were present and eager to help educate those interested about their products. Roughly 100 people were in attendance throughout the evening to toast to the new location.
SMU Student and beauty lover Sarah Smith attended the event as well. She has spent a lot of time at the Cos Bar in Aspen and was thrilled to hear of the grand opening.
“I’m so happy we have our own Cos Bar here in Dallas now, just down the street from school,” Smith said. “We really needed a free-standing luxury cosmetic store like this.”
