The Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) held its annual convention at Crowne Plaza in Downtown Dallas March 21-24.
SMU students enrolled their works and competed at the convention for prizes.

TIPA is the “oldest state collegiate press association in the nation and has grown into one of the largest and most respected collegiate groups in the country,” according to its website.
The organization acknowledges and awards college-aged writers and creators in general magazine, radio, television, online, two divisions of yearbook, two divisions of literary magazine and four divisions of newspaper categories.
Awards and mentions are as follows:
– Kenny Martin received Honorable Mention in the General Column category for his article, “YAF 9/11 display unites and divides”
– Kylie Madry received Honorable Mention in the General News category for her article, “Daniel House residents relocated due to mold”
– Reece Kelley Graham placed 2nd in the Sports Column category for his article, “SMU should put deep pockets to work, lock up Tim Jankovich”
– Reece Kelley Graham placed 1st for Sports Feature Story, “Death defying: The legacy of SMU football lives on in the forgotten member of the Pony Express”
– The Daily Campus staff received Honorable Mention for Ad Design of “We want to hear your voice” ad
– The Daily Campus staff placed 3rd for Ad Design for employment ad
– SMU Look magazine staff placed 3rd for Cover Design in General Magazine category
– Alicia Smiley received Honorable Mention for Cover Design in Yearbook category of Rotunda Yearbook
– Jessie King placed 3rd for the Inside News Page Design for her “Work in progress” page in the Yearbook category
– SMU Rotunda Yearbook staff received Honorable Mention for Overall Design in the Yearbook category
– The Daily Campus staff placed 3rd for Special Edition Design Print with their “Best of SMU” issue
– SMU Look magazine staff placed 1st in Overall Excellence, General Magazine category The Look
– Rotunda Yearbook Staff placed 3rd Overall in Excellence Yearbook category for the Rotunda Yearbook
