Hush Hush Tan is an award-winning spray tan business specializing in airbrush spray tans, which is a healthier alternative to tanning outside, or in a tanning bed. Since opening its Austin, TX location in 2009, Hush Hush Tan has been featured in multiple magazines such as Vogue and InStyle, where they were named one of the best spray tans in America.
After watching a television show talking about spray tans, owner Isabel Wicker became inspired to learn more about the spray tan process.
“At the time I was looking to do something on the side as I helped my husband open his furniture store,” Wicker said. “As I did my research I realized there wasn’t anyone doing this in Austin.”
So, Wicker bought equipment online and began to train through different classes. After her training, she began taking individual appointments and a year later opened her first Hush Hush Tan location in Austin.
Since opening her first location, Wicker has had a dream to expand her business to Dallas. In July 2018 Wicker’s dreams became a reality when Hush Hush Tan opened their doors for the first time at their new location, 4254 Oaklawn Ave.
“It took me a little while to get here but I finally did it,” Wicker said. “I just want all the girls really to know how excited we are to be here.”
Hush Hush Tan prides themselves on their customer satisfaction and looks forward to serving all ages of the Dallas community. Wicker believes that Hush Hush Tan stands out from other salons because the salon owns its own solution that no one else in the industry has access to. The products’ formulas are all made with high quality, natural, anti-aging, paraben-free, alcohol-free ingredients. In addition to their custom solution, they also have products available to buy that are specifically for Hush Hush Tan clients.
Dallas store manager, Raquel Ysquierdo-Kath, believes that the salon’s techniques also make it unique.
“Our technique is one of a kind we went through training like crazy and just have the steps down,” Ysquierdo-Kath said.
With its location close to SMU’s campus, both Wicker and Ysquierdo-Kath hope to see SMU students in the salon soon.
Customer and SMU student Noelle Kendall has been going to Hush Hush Tan since the salon’s opening in July. Kendall said that she keeps going back because of both the quality of the tan and the experience she gets from the second she walks in.
“It’s the tiny details that they put into the experience that I really love,” Kendall said. “From the silk robes and nose plugs provided in the beginning to the natural looking solution that isn’t sticky when you leave, everything about the products and services is great.”
Hush Hush Tan offers customized airbrush tans for $45. Promotional emails with discount deals are sent out monthly for those who subscribe.
“I want people to know it’s for the male, female alike old, young, curvy, thin if you’re a brown beauty or a porcelain doll I want everybody to come through those doors,” Ysquierdo-Kath said.
