The SMU Indian Student Association will host its 14th annual Bhangra dance competition on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the McFarlin Auditorium.
Bhangra Blitz (B2) is an intercollegiate event with seven colleges competing from across the country. Participating universities are UT Austin, University of Chicago, Columbia, William and Mary, Rice, UT San Antonio and UT Dallas.
The event will be hosted by social media star Wahlid Mohammad. Wahlid will also be performing his own stand-up in between introducing teams.
SMU student and co-director of Bhangra Blitz Ankita Padarthy is expecting 400 audience members. Sophomores Ankita Padarthy and Trisha Punamiya are co-directors of B2.
“I hope to run a successful show that runs on time with minimal delays or issues. I’m hoping to see a packed audience and lots of energy in the auditorium,” Padarthy said.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to go until 10 p.m. SMU students can enter for free at the door with a valid student Event Pass.
