SMU Dance will perform at the Bob Hope Theatre on Thursday, March 21 in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Meadows School of the Arts.
The show marks the celebration of 50 years of teaching for the Meadows School of the Arts. The Spring Dance Show will serve as a sneak-peek of the work that will be presented on April 4 at the Winspear Opera House.
The dancers will present 3 pieces; one modern, one jazz, and one contemporary ballet. The artistic director, Christopher Dolder, describes his vision for the performance as an experience of three different visual, oral, and physicalized worlds.
“I want the audience to feel like they’ve gone on a journey,” Dolder said. “Like they have been transported elsewhere, and that you’re able to suspend time and disbelief and just dive into what’s being presented.”
SMU’s dance department opens its spring show on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Bob Hope Theatre and will continue its run through Sunday, March 24.
