The Dr. Bob Smith Health Center is prepared with the infrastructure, staff, and registration process to vaccinate SMU community members as soon as they receive their first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Diane Melcher, RN, MSN describes the university’s efforts to make the process go as smoothly as possible for those eligible for the vaccine. The vaccine tent located in the quad behind the health center will be able to vaccinate up to 200 people per day, with help from SMU staff and other licensed nurses and physicians. As soon as Texas fulfills SMU’s requests, eligible members will be able to register on a first-come, first-serve basis to receive the vaccine.
The vaccine center will operate along with the health center for those members of the SMU community who will be in the DFW area beyond the spring semester. More details regarding vaccine registration will be sent out via email when supplies from the state become available.
