SMU loses to UCF in C-USA conference game, 7-17

Latavius Murray rushed for 94 yards and scored two touchdowns as Central Florida defeated SMU 17-7 in Saturday morning’s Conference USA Chamionship game.

With the loss, SMU finishes as the runner-up in Conference USA after playing in its first C-USA Championship game. The Mustangs last competed for a conference title in 1984 when they shared the Southwest Conference championship.

Central Florida jumped out to a 10-0 half time lead as SMU’s offense failed to produce any type of rhythm.

Trailing 17-0, SMU finally put points on the board early in the 4th quarter when Kyle Padron found Aldrick Robinson on a 22 yard touchdown strike. The touchdown would be SMU’s only score of the game and proved to be too little too late.

Padron completed 18 of 34 passes for 220 yards, but was also intercepted twice and sacked five times.
