The SMU men’s basketball team suffered a loss to Fresno State Tuesday night in a regional consolation game in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Tip-Off Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif.
The game stayed head to head the whole night. In the second half, the Mustangs had a 49-40 lead with four minutes left, but the Bulldogs rallied with a 14 point comeback, holding SMU at 49 points until Robert Nyakundi hit a three with one second left.
Cannen Cunningham led the scoring for the Mustangs with 17 points, while Nyakundi added 14.
The Mustangs will face Florida Gulf Coast at home Nov. 19 at 1 p.m.
