Volleyball team wins against UAB

The SMU volleyball team brings home a victory after a 3-0 sweep at UAB.

After pushing through the first set with a 25-19 win, the Mustangs continued on the path to victory.

During the second set the Mustangs and Blazers were tied 6-6 until the Mustangs scored the next nine points taking the lead 15-6. The Blazers were unable to close the gap, always remaining at least seven points behind, ending the second set in favor of the Mustangs 25-7.

The Mustangs had a late rally with UAB in the third set to erase a three point deficit and complete the sweep 25-23.

Senior Libero Sidney Stewart had 27 digs during the match, making her career total to 2,008. She is the first Mustang and fourth player in C-USA history to achieve 2,000 digs in a career.

The Mustangs will be back in action at Moody Coliseum Friday night to face East Carolina at 7 p.m.
