True Food Kitchen was packed with people of every dietary preference and palate when it opened Tuesday night at The Plaza at Preston Center (directly across the street from Sprinkles Cupcakes).
The restaurant’s philosophy is based on a holistic health approach developed by Dr. Weil. The menu focuses on locally sourced, organic and seasonal ingredients. Its other locations are in Arizona, California and Colorado.
The menu offers a wide variety of globally-inspired dishes that include gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as paleo and Mediterranean diet accommodations.
A few plates that looked particularly mouth-watering as they came out of the kitchen were the red fish with brussels sprouts and portabello mushrooms; the turkey lasagna with spinach and ricotta; and wild mushroom pizza.
The health-focused restaurant is also eco-friendly, using chairs made from recycled materials, compostable take-out packages and menus printed on paper from renewable resources.
