SMU football crawls out of the pillow fight as champions by beating North Texas 34-21. The Mustangs are trying to keep the momentum going as they move on to play the Baylor Bears on Saturday. Third ranked Notre Dame was a national championship favorite. The unranked SMU Mustangs stun the Fighting Irish with a late fourth quarter touchdown. The final score was 19-13 Mustangs.
Saturday, Oct. 26, 1985
The Mustangs are 3-2 on the season and are looking to pick up some momentum with a win against nineteenth ranked Texas. The Mustangs did not hold back against their ranked opponents and turned the game into a blow out by winning 44-14.

SMU is looking to rebound after losing their first game against the Baylor Bears. The Mustangs play the 22nd ranked TCU Horned Frogs in the second game of the season. With a 21-10 win over TCU, the Mustangs snap a six game losing streak.

The SMU Mustangs travel down the road to Ft. Worth, Texas to play against the 20th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs. TCU rallied in the fourth quarter by scoring 16 points to send the game into overtime. But SMU held on after a touchdown pass from J.J. McDermott, and a Mustang defensive stop. This game broke a 22-game home winning streak for TCU.

SMU is playing in the Hawaii Bowl against the Fresno State Bulldogs. SMU had a powerful back field with Garrett Gilbert at quarterback and Zach Line at running back, both who will go on to play in the NFL. The Mustangs blow out the Bulldogs 43-10, and this marks the last time the Mustangs have competed in a bowl game.

The 2016 Mustangs are in consideration for the Big 12 conference, and an upset win over the 23rd ranked Baylor Bears would have the Mustangs look like a standout choice for the conference. The game kicks of Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
