Being so close to Mexico you would think that it’d be easy to find some delicious, authentic Mexican tacos. The unfortunate truth is that Tex-Mex has taken over and the real, delicious Mexican food has stayed behind.
Fortunately for you, I’ve gone all around Dallas looking and tasting some of the best authentic Mexican food that will take you straight to Mexico with just one bite. Here are the top 5 Authentic Mexican Restaurants in Dallas (thank me later).
Tacos La Banqueta:
The great thing about Tacos La Banqueta is that 1. it will not hurt your wallet and 2. it will leave you wanting their tacos for the rest of your life. La Banqueta offers tacos for as cheap as $1.50 and has all types: al pastor, chicken, pork, and steak. For those feeling adventurous, there are also tongue and tripe (to each their own). And as their poster says “Aqui se prohibe la dieta,” which means “No diet allowed here.”
Taqueria La Ventana:
This taco joint will take you right to Mexico with all their cute and festive decorations. Taqueria la Ventana has outside tables that make the perfect setting to enjoy your tacos on a nice warm day. They also sell everything from beer to frozen margaritas- the perfect combo for your tacos.
El Come Taco:
“He eats tacos” is the translation of the name of this restaurant, so you already know that their tacos are great. El Come Taco‘s standard tacos are $1.95 but are practically overflowing and their meat is incredibly tasty. They also have a wide selection of beer for every taste. Get your beer and tacos and let’s transport to Mexico!
Cuates Kitchen:
Cuates Kitchen is not your regular restaurant- it’s a food truck. This amazing food truck has everything from tamales to tacos, and they surely don’t disappoint. Three tacos will cost you $9.50 and they will leave you full for the rest of the week. Their outdoor tables are an awesome place to go on a nice day out and enjoy some of the best tacos of Dallas.
Revolver Taco Lounge:
This place will leave you amazed with their nice presentation (definitely good enough to get you a second date). The only problem with this place is that everything looks so good and with just one of their enormous tacos you will never want to eat again. Don’t go to Revolver Taco Lounge if you want to gain five pounds after eating just one taco (don’t say I didn’t warn you).
