Last year I went to a school that, I’m just going to say it, was straight up boring. So, I spent much of my time alone in my apartment attempting to entertain myself. I watched all of the movies in my collection, which includes an impressive seven DVDs, and read all of the books on my shelf, and then turned to the Internet. These five Web sites are the most interesting and entertaining that I found. I hope that they can be cures of boredom for you too.
1. Sporcle is a Web site of lists. While this doesn’t sound particularly entertaining, let me assure you, it is. There are hundreds of lists to choose from, and all follow the same format. You are given a blank list, and an allotted amount of time to fill it in. Know all of the U.S. presidents? How about the countries of the world? Or what about all of the things you can think of that start with the letter E? Go!
2. While My Life is Average sounds kind of depressing, this Web site will actually bring a lot of joy to your life. Meant to be a direct contrast to F My Life, this Web site publishes content that is much more believable and relatable. Give it a shot, you’ll forget about F My Life immediately.
3. Lumosity is a full fledge brain-training workout. This Web site has hundreds of memory and attention game that are guaranteed to be both entertaining and helpful. The Web site can also keep track of your results and give you full progress reports.
4. Set Good Search as your default search engine, and you might not feel so bad about Googling your date for Friday night. This Web site donates a penny to a charity of your choice every time you use the search engine. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but it really adds up. I’ve used it since last year, and I’ve donated over 200 dollars to my charity.
