Tuesday night residents of McElvaney Hall experiencedintermittent Internet outages which later spread to other hallsthroughout the campus including Hawk, Martin, Moore, Smith,Perkins, Mary Hay and Peyton.

The temporary crash of the student residence network also causedsporadic problems with the swipe boxes around the campus.

“It was a virus within the network and people worked asquickly as possible to fix the problem,” Cockrell-McIntoshHall Director Melissa Garza said.

However, Jesse Miller, director of telecommunications, said theoutages could have been caused by router maintenance or even ahardware failure.

Computer Corner manager James Robison said the Internet was alsodown in Boaz Hall and the Hughes-Trigg student center.

“The problem has been fixed as far as we know,”Garza said.
