VIDEO: Safety of Occupy Dallas questioned

Safety at the Occupy Dallas campground is questioned after a minor reported being sexually assaulted in one of the tents. The assault has led protestors to crack down.

“It was definitely a concern when it was brought up to everyone here at the camp because we have also heard reports of similar incidents in Wall Street Chicago and across the country,” says Michael Presteonise, an Occupy protestor.

Protestors have implemented systems designed to protect throughout the campsite.

“We insist on what now is called peace keepers, they walk around late at night, you know walk the women to the restroom, or whatever needs to be done…make sure no one’s going into someone’s tent,” DJ Skippy, another protestor, explains.

Sarah Peace adds, “Not only do they keep everybody safe, all you have to do is yell peace keepers and you’ll have somebody come help you at any point in time.”

“We’ve issued whistles to quite a large group of people here and we’ve also stepped up the amount of people on our security team so they can keep even more of an eye on things happening here,” Presteonise explains.
