The SMU community is in mourning after the death of Daniel Stephen Osterland Sunday night.
Osterland was a third-year law student from Dallas.
A letter from the division of Student Affairs was sent out to SMU students, staff and faculty, Monday afternoon.
No information on the cause of death has been released.
In the letter, SMU listed a number of resources for students to reach out to if they are struggling with the news of Osterland’s passing.
