Men’s golf moves up to sixth place

The SMU men’s golf team continued play at the C-USA Golf Championships Monday, jumping from 10th place to sixth where they are tied with the University of Memphis and the University of Texas-El Paso.

As a team, the Mustangs shot a 301 in the first round and 287 in the second, totaling 588. After the second round, Draegon Majors is in the top spot for SMU with a total score of 147 (73-74). The freshman is tied with three other golfers at 17th place. Teammate Scott Barton isn’t far behind at 27th place after shooting a 70 on Monday and a 79 on Sunday.

Senior Colt Knost made his first appearance at the C-USA Championships on Tuesday, shooting a 71.

Scott Sikes and Frank Wrenn IV round out the Mustang lineup, both tied at 30th place along with four other golfers.

Competition continues through today with a final 18 holes.
