On Tuesday, SMU held a tribute for those who lost their lives during the deadliest terror attack on American soil. The 9/11 attacks are responsible for the death of almost 3,000 Americans. Early rising students, university park police and first responders all showed up to honor those 3,000 men, women and children.
President Gerald Turner addressed the crowd. “At this particular time after 17 years the students that are now first year students were one year old, and so it is very important to have these kinds of activities to remind them the reason the world is in such turmoil and risk”
“When the rest of us are running away, these are the individuals that run toward, and our safety in many ways, and the safety of our country, is dependent upon them and upon our diligence.”
