Along with celebrating a season finale victory, the Mustangs also honored seven seniors in their last game at Wescott Field.
Seniors Diogo deAlmeida, Arthur Ivo, Ian Kalis, Joe Cooper, Ryan Rosenbaum, Payton Hickey, and Captain Adam Still were walked out onto the field by their family and loved ones.
Captain Adam still is also a top ten finalist for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award. The award is based on achievements made both on and off the soccer field in helping the community and embodying a respectable student-athlete.
The game started off rocky as Memphis fired one into the back of the net within the first two minutes of the game.
However, the Mustangs came back hungrier than ever and placed two back-to-back goals before the whistle at half-time.
The first game-changing goal was shot by Sophomore Juan Castillo. Less than a minute later, Ivo shot the game-winner with an assist from Junior Ben Hill.
The next step for the Mustangs is to battle it out for the title in Conference USA Championships. The tournament will be hosted by Tulsa, Nov. 9 until the 13th.
