Start your homecoming morning off on a healthy foot and get your run on at the annual Theta 5K.

Who? The SMU Thetas host this event each year for its philanthropy. It is open to everyone: students, faculty, friends, family, alumi and more.

What? It benefits Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a national network of 946 programs that recruit, train and support volunteers to represent abused and neglected children in the courtroom and other settings.

Judges appoint Dallas CASA volunteers to help these children have safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Dallas CASA exists so that abused and neglected children in protective care have the chance to become successful adults.

With the help of caring advocates, the hope is that the cycle of abuse and neglect will be broken.

Where? Moody Coliseum

When? 7:30 a.m. for the one mile fun run and 8 a.m. for the 5K.

How? You can register at www.getmeregistered.com/Theta5K.

Why? Theta 5K chair Jordan Bowles said, “SMU students should get involved for healthy competition and it is a great way to start Homecoming, meet Thetas and there will be lots of prizes, food and music.”

More reasons to go: A DJ will be there and who doesn’t love to run to loud music?

There will be prizes and gift certificates from Sprinkles Cupcakes, Bandito’s Tex Mex Cantina, The Blues Jean Bar, Dick’s Sporting Goods and much more.

Food will be provided from Mustang Donuts and My Fit Foods.
