Free breakfast for everyone

Denny’s restaurant, in an attempt to get back on the national breakfast menu, is giving away their signature Grand Slam breakfast for free Tuesday.

From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. the breakfast chain will be serving up the classic breakfast plate of two eggs, two slices of bacon, two sausage links, and two pancakes, free of charge.

Denny’s President and CEO Nelson Marchioli expects an additional 2 million customers to visit restaurants nationwide.

“In this economy people will respond to free,” said Marchioli.

He said the free meal is an attempt to get back in line with other competing breakfast restaurants, and regain lost market share.

The free Grand Slam is just the beginning of Denny’s reemergence. He said that soon healthier options will accompany the classic Grand Slam, and an ad campaign will be seen starting in the fiscal third quarter.

“Denny’s is coming back in a big way,” said Marchioli. “What better way to kick off the year than with a Grand Slam?”
