SMU’s cross country led the season opening North Texas Invitational Thursday night.
The Mustangs took first with a total of 36 points leaving TCU to trail 3 points behind putting them at second, Texas Women’s University (67) was third, North Texas (89) was fourth, and Dallas Baptist University finished fifth (121).
Two out of the top three runners to finish the meet were SMU’s very own.
Senior Silje Fjortoft brought home first place in the meet with a time of 13:16. Teammates Kristine Eikrem-Engest followed with third (14:09). Among the top ten Monika Korra took fifth and Aasha Marietta took ninth.
The Mustangs compete again on Saturday, Sept. 10, in the UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
