The NSCAA/Adidas scoccer poll announced this week’s men’s and women’s soccer ranks monday.
The SMU men’s soccer team, with a record of 2-1-1, is ranked 17th in this week’s Division I poll.
The men and women both played two away games this past weekend. Prior to the men’s game against Stanford, they were ranked eighth in the NSCAA/Adidas poll.
Over this past weekend, SMU lost to the top-ranked Stanford, 3-2, on Friday, but bounced back with a 1-0 victory over California on Sunday.
Other teams ranked include Stanford at number one, followed by Clemson, St. John’s, UCLA, and Notre Dame rounding out the top five.
Other Missouri Valley Conference representatives include: Tulsa, ranked number 12, and Bradley, ranked number 24.
SMU returns home for the SMU-Mi Cocina Classic this Friday and Saturday. The schedule of the annual tournament is as follows:
Friday, Sept. 13: TCU vs. Loyola 5 p.m.; University Missouri-Kansas City vs. SMU 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 14: TCU vs. University Missouri-Kansas City 5:00 p.m.; Loyola vs. SMU 7:30 p.m.
Games will be played at Westcott Field on the SMU campus. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
The SMU women’s soccer team, with a record of 3-1, returns to the NSCAA/Adidas Division I soccer poll ranked number 22.
In Colorado Springs this past weekend, SMU defeated Colorado College, 3-2 and Arizona State, 2-1, both in overtime.
Coming in at number one is North Carolina followed by Stanford, Santa Clara, Texas, and UCLA rounding out the top five.
The Lady Mustangs continue their season with a game at Oklahoma in Norman Friday night. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
