The SMU Athletic Department officially named the 16-person committee charged with finding a replacement for retiring Athletic Director Jim Copeland Wednesday.
The committee hopes to have a new AD in place by June 1. Copeland will retire May 31 after 11 years of service.
The committee is chaired by Vice President of Executive Affairs Tom Barry.
Members of the committee include high-profile names like Board of Trustees chair Gerald J. Ford (of Ford Stadium fame) and trustee Lamar Hunt.
Senior Jamey Harper, a defensive back on the football team, and senior Trent Redden, who is a student member of the athletic committee of the board of trustees and a former SMU basketball player, are the two student representatives on the committee.
