At Tuesday’s Student Senate meeting, finance chair Lauren Smith presented student organization’s budgets to Senate. Senate will vote on them next week.
Senate funded Rugby Club, from the chartered organizations fund, $2,400 for playoff fees. It funded B.B.A Energy Club zero dollars for its trip to Denver. It funded Program Council $1,700 in advertising, so PC could publicize its remaining semester events.
It funded SPARC $2,875 to attend a national conference.
Old Business
Senate funded Bhakti Yoga Club for its vegetarian cooking classes, which have been relocated to the SMU Service House. Senators tabled a bill to fund Mock Trial Club $8,830 for the national tournament in Florida. Senate will vote next week.
Senate passed two resolutions. One of the resolutions encourages RLSH to set up a more convenient recycling program in the campus residence halls. The other resolution recognizes an event honoring the unsung heroes of the Civil Rights movement, who are coming to campus next week.
New Business
Next week, senators will vote on a bill to fund $3,500 for the Perkins Student Association’s annual Perkins Student Journal and a resolution encouraging SMU Board of Trustees and SMU Dining to providing cost-effective alternative meal plans for upperclassmen living on campus.
Student Body President Liz Healy inaugurated new Meadows Sen. Taylor Armstead after senators approved her nomination.
