SMU women’s swimming and diving ended their season this weekend placing 19th at the NCAA Championships Sunday with a strong relay performance. The Mustangs collected points in the 200-medley relay, 400 and 800 free relays and the platform diving event.
Sophomore diver Audra Egenolf collected 13 points for the Mustangs on the platform, diving to a total score 301.55 and placing sixth overall. Senior Petra Klosova swam her final season-best time in the 100 back event in prelims, clocking a 53.39.
In the final event of the championships, seniors Klosova and Candace Blackmon, sophomores Sascha Van den Branden and Elzanne Werth led SMU to a season-best time in the 400 free relay turning in the time of 3:16.58 for a 13th place finish in the `B’ final.
In the 800 free relay, the team of Blackman, Van den Branden, Werth, and Klosova placed 13th tying their season-best time in prelims at 7:07.49. The team of Therese Svendsen, Devon Callaghan, Werth, and Klosova swam to eighth place in the 200 medley relay `B’ final with a time of 1:38.57 to earn two points.
