The SMU women’s tennis team has a busy weekend ahead, returning home for a four-match home stand beginning Friday and going through Sunday. The Mustangs face off against Stephen F. Austin and 11 a.m. Friday, and Conference USA foe Memphis later in the day at 3 p.m. Following Friday’s matches, the SMU women face Missouri at 10 a.m., and UT-Arlington on Sunday at 1 p.m.Despite competing in four competitions this weekend, Coach Meisner claims that this tough competition is much needed this weekend. She expressed her enthusiasm about the team and is sure it will be able to win for all four matches.Junior Nicole Briceno was honored last week as conference Player of the Week. Briceno, who was named 2008 C-USA newcomer of the year earlier in the season, went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles last week in matches against LSU, Tulane and Southern Mississippi.The SMU women are currently ranked No. 73; following a strong 7-0 finish against Southern Miss and a 6-1 victory over Tulane last weekend.
