VIDEO: Occupy Dallas protesters arrested

Police arrested more than 20 Occupy Dallas protesters in downtown Dallas Monday.

The protesters resisted arrest by refusing to walk. Police officers handcuffed and carried those arrested to a police van.

The event began when about 50 protesters gathered outside Chase bank on Main Street and Akard. Dallas police received several noise complaints from the loud chanting that started around 11 am Monday.

The arrests took place just before 2 pm. Those arrested sat down and locked arms to barricade the entrance to the bank. After ignoring requests from police to move, they were charged with criminal trespassing.

The two-dozen arrested were taken to Lew Sterrett Justice center, Dallas County’s Jail. Other Occupy Dallas protesters stood outside the county jail until the protesters were released.

One police officer reported minor injuries to his leg; no other injuries were reported.

This is the first clash Dallas protesters and police have had since the movement started early this month.
