The 72nd Golden Globe Awards took place Sunday evening, kicking off awards season on the right foot, much to every movie buff, TV fanatic and fashionista’s pleasure. This year marked the third and (supposedly) final show that the hilarious duo of Tine Fey and Amy Poehler will host. An unfortunate fact considering their opening monologue seems to get better each year. This year’s highlights included calling Emma Stone a “Big Eyes” painting (“It’s cute, but it’s creepy.”) and an amusing game of “Who’d you rather?” The acceptance speeches were moving and the wins unpredictable but seemingly deserved. And the fashion was on point (even if the air conditioning in the Beverly Hilton Hotel was reportedly broken and everyone was actually burning up inside). Here is a list of just some of the Golden Globes best dressed.

Best Accessories: Emily Blunt and Amal Clooney

Emily Blunt’s white-hot Michael Kors Grecian gown was the perfect blank canvas to feature some gorgeous gems. Her simply elegant wrapped halter neck and the flowing fabric allowed all the attention to be on her statement blue and white diamond earrings and bracelet combo. The floral-inspired pieces were both Lorraine Schwartz and together are worth more than $2 million. Blunt described her braided updo as “super fairytale,” taking inspiration from her nomination for her role in Disney’s latest fairytale “Into the Woods.”

The one and only Mrs. Clooney donned Dior Haute Couture for her first big red carpet moment. The beautiful black gown was one-shouldered and featured a sash that draped down her back, but her accessories stole the show. She took on the luxe trend of dangly diamonds with decadent four strand Harry Winston earrings. Her white elbow-length gloves were the most buzzed about accessory on the red carpet and she added them to the look all herself, further demonstrating that she can do no wrong.

But the hands down best accessories of both lovely ladies were their adorable and equally enamored husbands, John Krasinski and George Clooney.

Best Cliché Breakers: Naomi Watts and Taylor Swift

Both bombshell blondes proved wrong the antique belief that blondes cannot wear yellow with sleek, strapless yellow dresses complemented by bold red lips.

Naomi Watts dazzled in a daffodil colored Gucci gown that she reportedly picked based solely on its color. Her ensemble was completed with a Bulgari diamond snake chocker.

Taylor Swift did not make an appearance until the Golden Globe after parties but she dazzled in a Jenny Packham chiffon gown in marigold. Added bonus, her Lorraine Schwartz cluster earrings featured both white and yellow diamonds. She completed her ensemble with her ever-present girl group of friends featuring Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Lorde, and Jaime King.

Best Florals: Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o cemented her part in the awards show fashion hall of fame after last year’s red-caped Ralph Lauren number from the Golden Globes and her ethereal light blue Prada gown from the Academy Awards. She did not disappoint this year in a stunning purple Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress. The strapless gown featured a floral bodice and an ombré skirt of falling flowers. She finished the look with Chopard drop earrings but fans really went crazy for her “geek-chic” oversized square glasses needed while reading the teleprompter when presenting an award. So much so, that a Twitter account named Lupita’s Glasses was created solely for her violet spectacles. The account currently has 248 followers and counting.

Best Sparkles: Allison Williams

Allison Williams’ Armani Prive strapless ball gown was the perfect embodiment of Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Tiers of hand-beaded ruby tulle led to the sparkliest dress on the red carpet. She contrasted the dress’ girly vibe with an asymmetrical faux-bob hairstyle of Old Hollywood waves. A Cartier diamond bracelet and earrings completed the look. The end product was a frothy confection of pure princess after her role of boyish Peter Pan in the live-television production this fall.
