Disappointing Conslusion
Dear Editor,
I was disappointed with the conclusion Ivana Corsale reached inher article “Effects of a rhetorical convention.” Ifeel she is greatly mistaken by declaring Kerry has it right bysomehow achieving more domestically than Bush.
Kerry enjoys calling his economic plan only a tax on the rich.He claims his plan will cost the average person nothing because theupper class will bear the burden. This has, however, a logicproblem. Entrepreneurs create the job market for the middle class, and a tax on these rich entrepreneurs would only create lower wagesand more unemployment. Kerry bashes Bush for having a net job lossduring the past four years. How does Kerry plan to increase taxeson the rich without a job loss throughout the middle class?
Bush’s tax cuts, on the other hand, promote job creation.Consumers spent their refund check and businesses had the revenueto expand their business. In addition, Entrepreneurs created morebusinesses, which expands the job market. We are seeingthis is true because the recession is showing signs of relief. Inthe past few months, employers created 1.5 million new jobs.
As far as the job market goes, in reality we have two months tothink about tax relief fostering growth, or a tax increasecutting jobs.
