The Black Excellence Ball will occur on Saturday, February 23rd, acknowledging the accomplishments and unity of the SMU black community.

“It is a time where minority black students at SMU can get together and celebrate black history month”, student Praise Davidson said.

The event is celebrated in the Hughes-Trigg ballroom, hosted by the black alumni and black student associations. Keynote speaker and For Oak Cliff founder Taylor Toynes will be in attendance.

“It is a time to just dress up and be around friends and is very fun,” said student Praise Davidson.

The guests go to eat a nice dinner and visit with friends. There will also be two student recipients of the Association of Black Students Legacy Award and the 2019 Black Alumni of SMU History Maker Award.
