Beta Theta Pi suspended

The SMU Chapter of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity is currently under SMU and national suspension.

Nationals originally put Gamma Omega on deferred suspension on Thursday, Jan. 24 according to the chapter president, Jeffrey Robillard.

SMU placed the fraternity under deferred suspension on Monday.

In 2005 the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity was closed on SMU’s campus for a risk management violation according to our archived accounts. It was reinstated in 2009 and the charter made official in 2011.

SMU Greek Life stated “no comment,” on the matter of suspension.

Robillard said the probation originally came from a “risk management policy” violation but didn’t give any details.

While suspended, the fraternity is unable to host any social functions through SMU.
