SMU’s equestrian team will have its final meet of the regular season this Friday. The Mustangs will compete against the University of Tennessee at Martin. SMU has faced UTM earlier this season when the Mustangs beat the Skyhawks with a close score of 6-5.
The win was an impressive one for SMU. The team was down 5-1, but came back after winning five straight points. Freshman Morgan Toal was honored as the event’s MVP.
The Mustangs are coming off a loss to TCU. In what was called the last regular home season meet on March 5, the team actually played at TCU’s Fieldstone Park because of the collapse of the SMU arena. The SMU equestrian team’s home arena collapsed due to heavy snowfall on the roof.
Sophomore Mallory Olson was named MVP in the equitation over fences, which she won by five points, 82-77.
