The Perkins School of Theology will hold its annual Ministers Week Jan. 28-30, focusing on the selected topic, “Albert Outler and the Wesleyan Spirit.”
Scholars, pastors, church and academic professionals and laity will honor the centennial of the birth of Albert Outler, a noted Perkins theologist.
Outler served at Perkins for more than 25 years and is known as one of the century’s leading theologians of the Methodist tradition and the ecumenical movement.
The program offers lectures and workshops based on Outler’s work which are headed by selected theologians and pastors, including Richard Heitzenrater of Duke University, Bishop Scott Jones of the Kansas Area of The United Methodist Church and several professors at Perkins.
In addition, Bishop John Wesley Hardt, Bishop-in-Residence Emeritus at Perkins, will be awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the School of Theology on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
