The Union, as the sole student organization sponsor of the 2009 Homecoming Challenge, would like to recognize all 16 of the student organizations who generously participated in the challenge.
This competition demonstrated the outstanding loyalty each group has to their future alma mater and The Union feels obligated to recognize that while one group was highlighted in Thursday’s article, all groups pulled together for this cause with three groups achieving 100 percent participation. In fact, seven groups listed below, had over half of their membership make a gift to SMU.
Kappa Kappa Gamma: 100 percent
Pi Beta Phi: 100 percent
Sigma Phi Epsilon: 100 percent
Chi Omega: 79.1 percent
Asian Council: 76 percent
Pi Kappa Alpha: 51.1 percent
Phi Gamma Delta: 51 percent
The Union, with the support of SMU’s Young Alumni Board, raised a total of $3,255 in order to award all three winning organizations $1,085.
We are thrilled to see these students believe that giving back to SMU is an important part of the university’s culture.
As the student member of one of the Board of Trustees committees, and as a member of the Young Alumni Board, I can tell you without a doubt that this demonstration of pride in SMU sets an example to our alumni. This success declares the impact the student body is capable of, and we should all be proud.
