Though the 2016 presidential elections are more than a year away, things are already getting interesting. While big political names like Bush and Clinton are already in the ring, unexpected candidates (some bait, some serious) are causing a stir in the presidential race.
Who Can Trump Trump?
Former ‘Apprentice’ host, real estate mogul, and master manipulator of the media Donald Trump is polling extremely well—higher than anyone expected. Trump’s controversial statements on women and immigrants have only garnered more attention to his campaign, and it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon.
“Everyone thinks [Trump] is a bombastic loudmouth who won’t be around at the end. But… he is going to hang around for a while and do a great deal of damage,” a major GOP fundraiser at a large bank, who declined to be identified by name, told Politico.
Deez Nuts 2016
Presidential candidate “Deez Nuts” came into the spotlight when he was polling 9 percent in the PPP poll from North Carolina. Deez Nuts’s legal name is Brady C. Olson, a 15-year-old from Wallingford, Iowa. Olson told TIME that he decided to run because he was “frustrated with the two-party system.” And he picked a running mate—Limberbutt McCubbins (D-KY), a house cat. While Nuts wouldn’t be able to serve as president due to his age, he was happy to see how far the Deez Nuts campaign went.
Yeezus for Prez 2020
After accepting the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs rapper Kanye West launched into a long-winded acceptance speech where he announced his run for presidency. His campaign is apparently not a joke, and fans have launched a website as well as a YouTube page that has posted 2 campaign videos. West has yet to announce his political platform officially, but he has certainly captured the Internet’s attention.
