Editor’s note, March 31, 10:30 a.m.: This story has been updated with the dates of the series.
After playing a nonconference game at Stanford in 2015-16, SMU will head back to California as part of its 2016-17 nonconference schedule.
This time, SMU will play at USC, per a release from USC. The game is part of a home-and-home series between the two schools. USC will visit Moody Coliseum in the 2017-18 season for the second part of the home-and-home. The series will begin in Los Angeles on Nov. 25, 2016, with the return game in Dallas on Dec. 2, 2017.
The series is SMU’s second home-and-home announced with a Pac-12 team in as many years. The Stanford home-and-home will finish this coming season, with the Cardinal playing at Moody Coliseum.
In addition to the games at USC and vs. Stanford, SMU’s 2016-17 nonconference schedule will include a home game vs. TCU (date TBD) and the 2K Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 19 and 21, 2016. Marquette, Pittsburgh and Michigan will also play in the event. Matchups are still to be determined, although SMU is guaranteed to play two of those three teams.
