The Men’s golf team concluded their season finishing fourth place out of 14 teams at the Hawkeye Invitational, finishing the tournament at even par. The tournament represented the last regular season collegiate tournament for seniors Ryan Burgess and Austin Smotherman after being on the team for four years.

Smotherman shot four-under par for the tournament, earning him a tie for fifth place, which included five birdies and an eagle in the final round. Over the course of the season, Smotherman has recorded five top-10 finishes along with three top-five finishes, bringing his total to 16 top-10 finishes and seven top-five finishes throughout his career at SMU.
Burgess finished the tournament at two-over par and tied for 21st. His performance was highlighted by his 10 birdies throughout the tournament. Burgess will end his career with seven top-20 finishes and two top-10 finishes, including an individual title at the Farms Collegiate Invitational.
In addition to the strong performances by the seniors, sophomore Gray Townsend recorded a final score of one-over par, tying for 16th, his third top-20 result of the season. Junior Andrew Buchanan shot five-over par for the tournament with a total of eight birdies. Junior Alex Higgs had a strong final round, shooting one-under par, which included five birdies, bringing his total score to 11-over par.
The Mustangs finish the regular season with four top-5 tournaments, including first place finishes at both the Erin Hills Intercollegiate and the Farms Collegiate Invitational.
