With the semester quickly coming to a close, students of the Meadows School of the Arts have lots of work to show.
The school’s events calendar is packed full of performances from the theatre, dance, and music divisions this weekend, giving patrons the chance to sample a little bit of everything. Here is a full rundown of everything going at Meadows Friday through Sunday.
Theatre
SMU’s Theatre Division will present their annual spring repertory this weekend in the Margo Jones Theatre. The Rep is a series of student directed plays in rotation and has become a staple of the spring calendar, showing the versatility of the division’s actors, directors and designers. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for students, faculty and staff.
“Our Lady of 121st Street” by Stephen Adly Guirgis
As friends gather to mourn the loss of a nun, a murder mystery begins to unravel. From the playwright who won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Stephen Adly Guirgus’ brash, raunchy and smart humor is sure to please anyone.

“Love and Information” by Caryl Churchill
57 plays. Two hours. This new play from award-winning playwright Caryl Churchill investigates relationships in the digital age and how FaceTime conversations are threatening to replace interpersonal relationships. SMU’s Dance Division will host their annual Senior Showcase this weekend in the Bob Hope Theatre. The showcase will feature works choreographed and produced by seniors of the division. Tickets are $5 for all ages.

Concerts in Caruth Auditorium:
Meadows Wind Ensemble: “Come to the Cabaret“
The wind ensemble’s “Come to the Cabaret” will feature a variety of works better suited for a club than a concert hall. Songs from Weill’s “The Threepenny Opera” will be featured as well as Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Sanborn’s “Concerto for Sax.” The ensemble will be joined by faculty members Catharine Lysinger and Donald Fabian as piano and saxophone soloists. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for students, faculty and staff.

Cezanne Quartet Faculty Recital
This faculty recital features two quartets from Janacek and Beethoven’s “Rasumovsky” Quartet, Op. 59, No. 2. The Cezanne Quartet is the Meadow’s Peak Fellowship ensemble-in-residence. Tickets are free.
