The Indian Student Association will be hosting it’s annual Diwali show tomorrow to celebrate the Festival of Lights in the Hughes-Trigg Ballroom from 7 p.m. to midnight.
“It is a time of joy and community coming together. Religiously, the significance is that a Hindu god was returning home and people were rejoicing,” Priyashi Shah, a board member for ISA said.
There is no charge for SMU students as long as you bring your Connect Event Pass and non-SMU students can purchase a ticket for $7. There will be numerous live performances from SMU ranging from traditional Indian dances to stand-up comedy. Students can also enjoy a complementary dinner, free henna art and dancing.
“For those of you who have never been to Diwali, it’s unlike any event that you’ve seen at SMU,” President Kerman Ahluwalia said.
SMU students can find more details about the event here or can visit their Instagram page to learn more.
