SMU’s Mac’s Place just whipped out a new menu for the fall semester, introducing a plethora of new food items.
Mac’s Place has been an SMU favorite for many years, offering an assortment of options, varying from burgers and fries to many others.
This year, Mac’s Place has done away with many of their popular items, including pizza, a fan favorite, and has shifted their focus to newer items like loaded fry bowls, fresh burgers and milkshakes.
SMU Meadows student Chloe Torres often visits Mac’s Place, and said she was delighted by the changes.
“Even though there are less food options, they definitely put more quality into what they have,” Torres said. “And it actually feels like a good fast food option.”
Although Torres isn’t the only student in favor of these changes, some students miss the previous menu items. SMU psychology student Claire Calhoun misses some of the older options, but is still content with the recent changes to the vegan options.
“I would always get the grilled cheese or the Beyond Burger,” Calhoun said. “Now they actually have a veggie burger and fries.”
The menu is not the only thing that has changed recently. Mac’s Place has recently presented itself with a new look as well.
Li Duong, a business and art student, recently interned for SMU Hospitality over the summer and was given the opportunity to design the new logo. Mac’s Place’s new branding is shown right as you walk in the entrance, introducing a new logo and color scheme, along with a new display of their refurbished menu.
“It’s a great accomplishment for me to have my design in Mac’s Place,” Duong said. “Since I used to work at SMU Hospitality as an advertising intern, I got to design all kinds of graphics and take photos for the Instagram page, but this was the first design I’ve drawn that others can actually see in person.”
Mac’s place continues to satisfy student needs and develop ways to keep up with the constant changes at SMU.
The SMU Hospitality Group and marketing department have declined to comment at this time.
