Following his sixth season, the SMU Mustangs have fired men’s basketball Head Coach Matt Doherty according to a report from CBSSports.com.
It is not known who will replace Doherty, and SMU Athletics has not posted on their website or given a public statement.
Doherty led the Mustangs to an 80-109 record during his tenure, only finishing as high as seventh in Conference USA. The 2011 to 12 season finished this past week after loosing to Marshall in the opening round of the Conference USA Tournament. The Mustangs concluded the season with a 13-19 overall record and 4-1 in league play.
