In preparation for the upcoming basketball season, American Athletic Conference media day for both men’s and women’s basketball kicks off Monday morning in Philadelphia.
Men’s basketball will be represented by new head coach Tim Jankovich, along with senior forward Ben Moore and senior guard Sterling Brown. Women’s basketball will be represented by new head coach Travis Mays, junior guard McKenzie Adams and junior forward Alicia Froling.
The AAC released the results of the men’s preseason coaches poll and named players to men’s preseason all-conference teams prior to media day Monday morning.
SMU was picked to finish third in the conference standings by the AAC coaches, behind Cincinnati and Connecticut. The Mustangs beat out Houston for the third position by one point.

Ben Moore was selected to the preseason all-conference first team. Moore averaged 11.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks last season. Sophomore guard Shake Milton was selected to the preseason all-conference second team. Milton finished third in the AAC last season in three-point shooting percentage (42.6 percent) and has been named one of 20 finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.
Results of the AAC women’s preseason coaches poll have also been released as of mid-morning on Monday. SMU was picked to finish fifth in the conference standings by the AAC coaches.

SMU’s Alicia Froling was selected to the preseason all-conference second team. Froling averaged 12.3 points and 10.6 rebounds last season.
