As college football season begins to wind down, the SMU Mustangs look better than ever with a current 5-5 record, ranking fifth in the west of the American Athletic Conference, needing only one more victory to become bowl-eligible.
While this season can be termed inconsistent, the Mustangs have reached some highs with their wins against teams such as Liberty and Tulane, but nothing quite compares to their stunning victory against then-number 11 ranked Houston on Oct. 22.
SMU’s most recent bowl appearance was back in 2012, when they beat Fresno State 43-10 in the Hawaii Bowl. In SMU football’s history, they have made a total of 15 bowl appearances, winning seven games, losing seven games and tying one.
The announcement of all bowl games will be made on Selection Day, Dec. 4.
Be sure to come support the Mustangs at their next home football game, this Saturday, Nov. 19, against the University of South Florida Bulls.
