People may remember a wild group of students dressed in red and blue costumes or tutus, garbed in SMU spirit gear, and covered in bodypaint at football games a few years ago. They may have heard them screaming, “We’re Red! We’re Blue! We’re Mustang11, the spirit hype crew!” as they cheered the ‘Stangs to victory. However, since 2017, Mustang11 has been inactive … until now.
This year, Mustang11 has been rechartered by President Lindsey Philips.
“I’ve always loved having school spirit and have wanted to bring that energy and excitement to SMU. The goal of M11 is to be the energy and spirit of SMU that supports our team in every way possible” – Lindsey Philips
Although this football season has not been exactly what Mustang11 expected when it started planning in the early spring, Mustang11 is finding new ways to get students involved during the pandemic.

Mustang11’s goal is to spread and promote school spirit and pride amongst the SMU student body, and it seeks to improve student involvement at campus-wide spirit and sporting events.
